DESAIN PEMBELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM MULTIKULTURAL

Abstract

Designing learning is an urgent matter in the world of education. This qualitative descriptive paper with a literature study discusses the design of multicultural Islamic education learning. The analysis technique uses content analysis by sorting data according to the research focus. This study concludes that in designing multicultural Islamic education learning, the following four things need to be considered: (1) multicultural education as an idea; (2) multicultural education as an educational reform movement; (3) multicultural education as a process; and (4) multicultural education as development. It also considers three stages in designing multicultural Islamic education learning, namely: (1) analyzing potential factors with a multicultural nuance; (2) determining the approach, methods, and media for multicultural education learning; and (3) developing a multicultural education learning plan. In addition, one must know the seven characteristics of multicultural education, namely: (1) learning to live with differences; (2) building mutual trust; (3) maintaining mutual understanding; (4) upholding mutual respect; (5) being open-minded; (6) appreciation and interdependence; and (7) conflict resolution. In the context of Islam, the design of a multicultural Islamic education curriculum can be incorporated into the teaching process of various Islamic subjects such as Islamic History, the Quran, Hadith, Aqidah Akhlak, and Fiqh.
